2025: Grant Funded Workshops + Trainings

4.23.2025
Labor-Movement received notification that Western ERME grant has been 'paused' for 2025, with no known final outcome.

The assumption is that the Southern ERME grant will send similar notification soon. I have not received any communication since my 4.4.2025 email requesting written proof of "requirements" mentioned below (4.22.2025).

4.22.2025
Labor-Movement is still waiting on each ERME region to send contracts that would allow us to move forward.

The Southern region appears to be adding hurdles for Labor-Movement that do not exist in the RFA. There is one specific "requirement" that no other region (Northeast, North Central, or Western) has required (as it does not exist).

We will keep updating as we find out more.

2.17.2025
Grant funding notifications from Extension Risk Management Education (ERME) Centers have been made. Labor-Movement submitted proposals in all four U.S. regions.
  • Northeast: not funded for 2025
  • North Central: not funded for 2025
  • Western: funded for Education Project 2025-2026
  • Southern: funded for Exploratory 2025-2026
What this means:
Labor-Movement will contact grant organizations and farms that agreed to collaborate and support these projects. The first step is for Labor-Movement to obtain a fully executed contract with ERME regions prior to making any arrangements for workshops.

For regions not funded, please reach out if your farm or organization would like to discuss possibilities of coordinating schedules with others in an attempt to share costs of training + travel.

More info posted as dates/locations become known.
2.4.2025
Notifications for federal grant funding through Extension Risk Management Education is slated for mid-February. Given current events, it is unclear if allocated funds will be available, and if so, if there are any changes to the program.

That said, Labor-Movement will post when we know if any of our grant proposals in all four U.S. regions are awarded.

Labor-Movement is moving forward with scheduling and working to coordinate schedules between farms and regions to reduce any direct costs to farms, ag organizations, and individuals.

Please contact Cynthia directly if you have any questions. Also, see our Workshops + Training page for information about virtual workshops, webinar series, and Farm Movement Advocate Training.

Labor-Movement and Northeast ERME

Project title: Athletes in Overalls: Movement Health + Wellness for Injury Prevention, Increased Efficiency and Career Longevity
Project period: April 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024.
This project has ended.

This project will include Movement Workshops in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, West Virginia, and Maryland, with the potential to involve as many as 480 farmers and farm crew. Labor-Movement will assess farmers via pre-workshop surveys and at 6 months via online surveys. Program effectiveness and impact on movement health + general wellness of participating farmers will be assessed.

A secondary portion of the project involves extended coaching of 5 Maine farms, including 8 in-person contacts between farm crews and Labor-Movement over the project period, development of three (minimum) SOPs per farm in 2023 to be implemented and assessed during the 2024 season.
